Carol Blevins' Bio
5th Grade Teacher
1. What made you decide to be a teacher/work in education?
I love working with children and helping them learn.
2. Where did you graduate from/what has brought you to this point?
Many years ago, I graduated from Penn State (go Joe Paterno!). My first career was in the Savings and Loan industry where I spent nine wonderful years experiencing "hands-on" math. I started as a teller, then became a loan officer and finally an AVP/Branch Manager. After this experience, I decided to pursue my goal of becoming a teacher. I spent some time at Western State College and obtained my teaching license.
3. How many years have you been teaching/working in education?
I started with the Eagle County School District in 1990 as a teacher's assistant. I have been a teacher for fourteen years.
4. What do you like most about teaching/working in education?
I love seeing children get excited about learning! It is very rewarding to hear a child say "I got 100% on my pink dot test!" or "I really like and understand this math!".
5. Anything else you would like the GES school community to know about you.
I am blessed to have four wonderful males in my life-Teep, my husband, Hunter, my seventeen year old son, Weston, my thirteen year old son, and Ace, our yellow lab. We enjoy spending time together in the great outdoors!
